How to install the Arlec hard-wired electric operated doorbellFor the installation of the Arlec hard wired doorbell I'm going to explain how to set-up and install this simple reliable (do it yourself) wired doorbell with connecting both battery operated and mains operated Arlec A90, A98 & DCS13 doorbell kit. With a traditional 2 tone ding-doing sound to let you know you have a visitor. You can power these door chimes in 2 ways: either by mains supply plugin Transformer With our electric doorbell kit & also with our battery-operated kits. You do not need an electrician to do this as it is safe to do yourself with a plugin transformer to a power point however you can get a sparky to install this if you choose. A sparky can purchase the Arlec A90 kit which includes a direct to mains transformer. So firstly, I'm going to explain how to wire this Arlec door chime to a mains transformer supply, so you never need to change or purchase batteries ever again and there is no need to do any maintenance on the door chime. We do sell this cabling optional as there are many different sizes to everyone's Installation. You may also use your own cabling & fittings for this installation. Another great benefit of this mains operated Door chime kit is this can be much longer further Cable runs from the push button with up to 60 metres in length can be achieved with utilizing good sized Figure 8 Wire. In connecting the devices, one end of the cable goes to the front door Push button and the other side of the cable goes to the chime unit very easy to do. Refer to the user manual for the wiring diagram and instructions. Now The Front doorbell unit connects to the bell press cable to terminal 0 and the other wire connects to terminal 1 (see wiring diagram picture above). For the installation of the mains Plug in transformer this cable terminates to terminal 1 and Terminal 3. The wire can terminate any way on the terminals, does not matter which way around. The doorbell chime needs to be attached to a solid Wall, usually up higher towards the top end closer to the ceiling. Now that the installation is completed, switch on the power and test. How to install the Arlec hard-wired battery operated doorbellIncluded with the packaging contains 8 metres of cable Supplied. With this battery powered chime the length of the cable cannot be more than this length. Now on one side of the wiring goes to the doorbell press button and the other side goes to the door chime unit. connects to the Number 0 terminal and the other wire goes to number 1 terminal. The best position to install the Door chime is close to the door and in a horizontal position with paying attention to the top arrow sign on the backing cover. installing the bell sideways, vertically will make this not work properly. In the instructions, they recommend using an alkaline Battery. So please do not use the heavy duty or regular square 9 Volt batteries. 9 Volt lithium batteries can definitely be used and Will even last longer. The instructions also say that the alkaline batteries will last up to three years and with the Lithium batteries Lasting even longer. The battery is very easy to install. It is very easy for Everyone to (do it yourself DIY). Just remember to install the battery last so you don't short out the battery while installing the system. |
